The Little Garden Gathering will take place between Thursday 26 June and Sunday 29 June! This garden party charity fundraiser is a chance for childminders to host outdoor celebrations with the children in their care. After surveying childminders to choose a charity, Make-A-Wish was selected and will receive the proceeds raised.
Childminders can tailor the day to suit their homes. Simply:
- Choose a date between 26–29 June that works best for you
- Decide the format that suits you
- Let the children and their parents know what you have planned
Ideas for Hosting Your Event
- Host a garden party at your home with your mindees
- Team up with nearby childminders for a joint event
- Include mindees families by hosting at the weekend
Further Inspiration for Your Gathering
You may already have a clear idea how you would like to run your fundraiser – but if you are looking for inspiration, take a look at some of our ideas below.
Picnic Zone
Keep things relaxed with a simple garden picnic. Have blankets, toys, and snacks ready — and a backup indoor space in case of rain.
Simple Garden Games
- Doll Dash: A short relay race carrying a favourite toy as a baton.
- Stuffed Animal Long Jump: Toss a soft toy and measure how far it flies
- Toy Shotput: Throw a soft toy into buckets from a distance to earn points.
Creative Corner
Set up a face painting station or an outdoor arts & crafts table to let imaginations run wild.
Dress-Up Day
Encourage children to come dressed as their favourite book or movie character for some added fun and flair.
Nature Nurturers
Get children and/or their families involved in gardening and composting. We have lots of ideas on the Childminding Ireland website about this.
Bake-A-Wish
No outdoor space? Try a Bake-A-Wish indoor picnic instead, bake together and enjoy a cosy indoor celebration.
