Chairperson’s Letter Summer 2025

Dear members,

I hope you are enjoying the sunshine with your mindees.

“Childminding Day” will take place on Saturday 18th October in Dublin, beginning with our Annual General Meeting for members, followed by a guest speaker and an open forum that all childminders are invited to attend. Dublin was the preferred choice of members who voted in our poll earlier this year. Thank you to everyone who voted.

When we meet on 18th of October, we will have completed one year of the 3 year transition period before mandatory Tusla registration comes into effect on 30th September 2027. As an organisation, we are lobbying the Department for an 18 month review of the rollout to date.

It is very important that we get together and discuss the impact of the changes to date. We need to hear your voice on the issues that have arisen for you so far as a result of these changes. How has it affected your service? How do you feel about continuing to offer a childminding service from your home? Pre-registration training, how was it for you? Garda vetting? The provision of First Aid training? NCS and how it works in a flexible childminding setting? The Emergency Person status? These are all issues that have been highlighted by our members.

If you usually attend the AGM, we look forward to seeing you again on the 18th of October. If you haven’t attended before, I would like you to seriously consider joining your fellow childminders this year. We will be in touch with you again when the timetable for the day is finalised.  For now, save the date. Saturday 18th October,  Dublin.

Kind regards,

Mary Walsh,

Chairperson,

Childminding Ireland.
