Cook time: 15-20 minutes
Makes: 5 Adult portions

Ingredients
250g Plain Flour
75g Butter
75g brown sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 egg
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger

Method

  1. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add in the egg, maple syrup and baking powder and mix thoroughly.
  3. Sift the flour and spices in a separate bowl.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, shape the dough into a bowl and place in the fridge for a minimum of 30 minutes.
  5. Roll the dough out into a thin layer and cut into desired shapes.
  6. Place on a parchment lined baking tray and bake in the oven at 180°C for 15-20 minutes until golden.
  7. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack before decorating.

    Decorating Tip (For Hanging): Before baking, use a cocktail stick or a straw to carefully punch a small hole at the top of the cookie shape if you plan to thread a ribbon through for hanging.
