Free Play and Risky Play – Essential for Wellbeing

Free Play and Risky Play – Essential for Wellbeing

Dr Mary O’Kane, Lecturer in Psychology and Education suggests that our teenagers are more lonely, anxious, and depressed than ever before. She explains that while we don’t fully understand all the reasons for this, it is believed that it starts in younger years. Changes in parenting, attitudes towards risk and safety, and limited opportunities for free play may well play a part.

According to Mary, in our culture today, children are often deprived of freedom for exploration and risk taking. Yet, we know that free play is the primary way in which children become emotionally resilient.

Childminding Ireland is delighted to welcome Mary to deliver a webinar on this topic during which she will explore how we can step back and re-frame risk!

Training will be delivered via Zoom
