ECCE Scheme - Free
Pre-school Year - EARLY
CHILDHOOD CARE AND EDUCATION SCHEME
The launch of the ECCE scheme
is an important move for the childcare industry in Ireland.
For
criteria for Childminders please click here.
Under this scheme, Childcare providers will
be paid a fee by the state for each child registered for
Early Child Care & Education so that it is free of
charge to the parents of children in the qualifying age-group.
Childminders may participate in this scheme subject
to certain conditions. Information on eligibility and
the process can be found on the Childminding Ireland website
at www.childminding.ie/home . The OMCYA Help Line is 1890
303039 and queries can also be directed to childcare_mail@health.gov.ie
Late applications from childcare providers who wish to
take part in the Free Pre-school Year under the ECCE Scheme
are being accepted. Contact your City or County Childcare
Committee for information on the procedure.
General information on the new Scheme, together with
answers to the most frequently asked questions can be
assessed through the OMCYA website on www.omcya.ie
or click here.
Síolta,
the National Quality Accreditation Programme
All childcare settings participating in the ECCE Scheme
are required to adhere to the principles of Síolta,
the National Quality Accreditation Programme relevant
to the particular childcare setting, and help with this
is available.
Childminding Ireland is establishing a set of training
and supports to help all Childminders with the Síolta
process. Please e-mail Fionnuala@childminding.ie or phone
